Five Ways to Control What You Eat

FIVE WAYS TO CONTROL WHAT YOU EAT

When switching to a healthier lifestyle, some eating habits can be hard to overcome. Once you get into a routine, the rest falls into place and the healthy habits come naturally. Initially, eating less can feel like a difficult habit to create Here are a few ways that will help trick your brain and as a result, help you eat less.

USE SMALLER PLATES

When you use a smaller plate, you trick your eyes and brain into eating less food. When you use a bigger plate, your pile on the food to fill the plate, whether you’re that hungry or not. This can lead to mindlessly eating larger portion sizes. Grab a small plate and start making smarter eating decisions!

EAT PROTEIN FOR BREAKFAST

What they say rings true—breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Feeding your body with foods rich in protein will keep you fuller for longer periods of time. High protein meals will help suppress and reduce your appetite, so you won’t be eating so much throughout the day.

THREE MEALS A DAY

Skipping a meal could potentially be the worst thing for your body. The longer you go without a meal, the harder your adrenals are working to make up for the missed meal. A missed meal will also leave you extra hungry later that night. If your schedule doesn’t allow for breakfast, pack something easy like our LC Snap bars!

CHEW THOROUGHLY

Try and be more conscious of how you’re chewing your food. Some people are shoveling food in their mouths without even chewing it because they’re starving. This can mean that they’re eating way more each meal than others whom are thoroughly chewing their food. Next time you eat something, try and count your chews—this will help you be more aware. Slow down, enjoy your food, and chew!

DRINK MORE WATER

Research shows that sixty percent of the time, people would rather eat something than drink something when their body only needs a glass of water. So, when your stomach starts to talk to you, try to drink a full glass of water. This should help. Always drink water throughout the day. If you’re not drinking enough water, you’ll have this feeling more often than not. Drinking water will also keep your energy levels up.
